Italian Tree of the Year 2019: finale
In 2019 the four candidates were chosen in the genus Quercie; below you can find their names and characteristics.
On November 30, 2019, all the oaks that participated in the Italian contest were awarded at the Giant Tree Days international conference, and in particular the winning oak was presented.
On this occasion, the reference communities (institutions, associations and territories) were able to meet the Technical Scientific Committee of the Giant Trees Foundation and agree on the type of intervention for the protection and safeguarding of the plant itself.

The Vallonea Oak of Tricase (Apulia)
The voting to choose the Italian Tree of The Year 2019 among the Italian oaks ended on November 21st 2019 (national tree day).
The Vallonea Oak of Tricase won first place with over 350 thousand votes and represented Italy in the 2020 European Tree of the Year competition.
